Abstract

The possibilities and limitations of partial discharge (PD), recovery voltage (RV) and dissipation factor measurement for evaluation of the actual status of insulation system of high voltage rotation machines were presented. The dielectric dissipation of insulation was found to cause by insulation resistance and relaxation polarization alongwith the interface polarization and partial discharges. The results confirmed the sensitivity of partial discharge measurement on the thermal ageing.
