Electric Power Systems Laboratory A

The Electric Power Systems Laboratory A consists of 8 experiments, which are carried out in groups of 3 to 4 persons.

Content

On the basis of the theoretical principles, students learn and consolidate the operating behaviour of generators, motors, transformers, high-voltage direct current transmissions and trasmission lines in the system of electrical power supply by means of practical measurements.

Recommended prior knowledge:

The laboratory is based on the contents taught in the course Electric Power Supply I and Electrical Power Supply II and supports the module contents with practical examples. The mathematical description and parameterisation of the equipment (generators, motors, network equivalents, lines, transformers, reactors, capacitors) in symmetrical components as well as the networks in symmetrical and unsymmetrical three-phase systems are necessary prior knowledge for the laboratory.

  • Experiments
    1. Protection against dangerous body currents (SKS)
    2. Three-phase systems (DSS)
    3. Transformers (TRA)
    4. Transmission systems (LTG)
    5. Synchronous generator (SGN)
    6. High-voltage direct current (HGÜ)
    7. Wind turbines (WEA)
    8. Short circuit current calculation (KSB)
