Electric Power Systems I

Course overview No.: 35950 & 35953

German title: Elektrische Energieversorgung I

The students gain a deepening of their knowledge of the structure and operation of electrical energy systems and their equipment. Lecture is held on Mondays from 02:00 pm to 03:30 pm. The exercises are held on Mondays from 11:15 am to 12:00 am.

Description

After successful completion of the module, students can:

  • mathematically describe symmetrical and asymmetrical three-phase systems and their equipment (generators, motors, back-up networks, lines, transformers, reactors, capacitors)
  • apply the symmetrical components method for converting symmetrical three-phase systems into three single-phase systems to electrical power supply systems
  • describe, parameterise and apply the equivalent circuits of the equipment in balanced components
  • apply the method for calculating symmetrical and asymmetrical shunt and series faults
