Abstract

This study aims to enhance the efficiency of the Laser Induced Pressure Pulse (LIPP) method, focusing on comparing the effect of different electrode metals. Results show significant differences in signal strength between brass and aluminum electrodes. The higher acoustic impedance of brass resulted in less induction of the laser-generated shock wave inside the sample, leading to a smaller charge signal. This shows the importance of choosing the electrode material for LIPP application. Aluminum was shown to be more suitable for achieving higher signal peaks.
